    Symposium given at the "29th Annual SIOP Meeting" held between May 15 and May 17 (2014)

    A major source of work motivation is employees’ intention to work towards a goal. Accordingly, an important area in motivation research has focused on goals. Numerous studies have been conducted in the last decennia to explain the link between goals and employee behavior and performance. Over time, different frameworks and approaches have been developed. In this symposium, we will reflect on recent developments in goal research and discuss the future of this research field. Where are we now? And how will the field continue?
