Description
Research-based design is an orientation to educational development that is explicitly informed by existing research as well as formative evaluation. Design-based research is a genre of inquiry in which the design of innovative solutions to problems in educational practice provides the context for scientific investigation, yielding results that can also inform the work of others. Both design-based research and research-based design yield solutions to serve practice in various forms, including programs, processes, products, policies – or a combination of these. While both processes may produce knowledge of value to those involved, only design-based research aims to produce scientific understanding that can be used by others to describe, explain, predict or manipulate educational phenomena. This presentation reflects on the affordances and limitations of each approach for advancing the field of Elearning. Examples of synergistic combinations are also discussed, along with recommendations for optimizing these processes to improve Elearning innovations.| Period | Oct 2014 |
