Replication Data for: Goal Before Design: How Multimedia Goal, Design Characteristics, and Representational Format Relate to Performance on Informative-Picture Test Items

This dataset contains the complete item-level coding data for 21 paired multimedia test items and 3 anchor items from the Rekenen in beeld dataset (Hoogland & De Koning, 2013). Each row represents one item. Columns include performance data, codes for multimedia goal, design characteristics, representational format of essential information, and the full written explanations documented during coding. The coding scheme is described in full in Appendix A of the related manuscript submitted to Learning and Instruction.
