Organisation profile

Layman's description

In general, our research aims to better understand the development and treatment of psychopathology within a dynamic and digital daily environment. New insights in clinical psychology impact the way we diagnose persons as well as change the target of therapeutic interventions. Our research moves beyond diagnostic categories and focuses on targeting shared underlying mechanisms of dysfunction. Using a transdiagnostic perspective, the first objective of our research line is to get insight into the vulnerabilities and putative risk profiles for mental disorders by examining internal and external factors that make individuals at risk for psychopathology. This may give a solid base for investigating prevention strategies and integrated treatment for (comorbid) symptoms, in particular transdiagnostic treatments, in which interventions are used that apply the same underlying treatment principles, without tailoring the protocol to  specific diagnoses. This is regarded as the second objective of our research line.
