Research interests
The focus of my research is on citizen participation in environmental governance. In particular, I am interested de dynamics between citizens' initiatives and urban planning policies and practices. This is a timely issue in the Netherlands, because a new and more prominent role for citizens in planning is foreseen in the new Environment and Planning Act that is implemented in 2024. In addition, the attention is paid to the relation between participation and trust.
