Abstract
This essay draws a line between the contemporary wave of autobiographical literature in the Netherlands, historical ruptures and emancipation. It discusses recent novels by Saskia De Coster, Maarten van der Graaff, Bregje Hofstede, Niña Weijers and Maartje Wortels and views them as attempts at adopting new attitudes towards traditional social norms.
