    Abstract

The Appreciation of Intervention Measure (Walthouwer et al., 2015) is an assessment of appreciation of a Web-based computer-tailored obesity prevention intervention. First, participants rate on a 5-point Likert scale how they appreciate the information and feedback messages in the intervention: interesting, useful, understandable, and fitting to own situation. Participants also give an overall rating of their impression of the intervention on a 10-point scale. Participants’ rate perceptions of the intervention regarding autonomy (2 items), relatedness (3 items), and competence (3 items). These 3 concepts were derived from the Self-Determination Theory (SDT) (Deci & Ryan, 2011) and measured on a 5-point Likert scale. For autonomy, participants rate the freedom in setting their own goals and plans as well as in deciding which information they could read. For competence, participants indicate if the intervention has increased their confidence in their ability to manage their weight, dietary intake, and physical activity behavior. For relatedness, participants assess whether they feel supported by the intervention. No reliability or validity data were reported for the measure.
