We laten allemaal continu digitale sporen achter. Als we deze sporen willen gebruiken voor een strafrechtelijk onderzoek, dan is dat lastiger dan het lijkt. Wat betekenen ze precies, en hoe zeker weten we dat? De leerstoel Digital Forensics aan de Open Universiteit beoogt samen met het Nederlands Forensisch Instituut antwoorden te vinden door het nauwkeuriger duiden van digitale sporen binnen juridische kaders, mede door formele methoden, om zo bij te dragen aan een sterkere strafrechtketen in het digitale tijdperk.

We all continuously leave behind digital traces. If we want to use these traces for a criminal investigation, it is more difficult than it seems. What exactly do they mean, and how can we be sure? The Chair in Digital Forensics at the Open Universiteit aims to work with the Netherlands Forensic Institute to find answers by interpreting digital traces more accurately within legal frameworks, partly through formal methods, in order to contribute to a stronger criminal justice chain in the digital age.
