Abstract
Ecosystem research has been gaining attention among both scholars and practitioners. These discussions predominantly focus on a very particular type of ecosystem. Our integrative review offer a better understanding of the boundary conditions between different ecosystem types and identify which ecosystems will best facilitate the realization of specific goals. We achieve that by focusing on a combination of ecosystem and boundary condition perspectives. In particular, we focus on business, innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge ecosystems. We find that several clear boundary conditions exist between ecosystem types and that each ecosystem type can be applied to attain specific goals. A better understanding within and across ecosystems, helps managers and policymakers to understand
