Abstract

Apart form relationship- an trust building skills, two sorts of questions are important within an interview. Questions targeted at the specificity of a subject (referring to reliability) )and questions targeted at the relevance of a subject for the clients development (validity). The latter consist ofcomplex interviewing skills, like confrontations on (a combination of) content and manifested behavior. In both approaches, it is argued that the psychologist can be most effective by taking a non dominant position of observing, feeling, interpreting and giving feedback to the client by asking (more) questions.
