Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate which social processes of acculturation are manifested by immigrant Spanish-speaking students in Germany. Ten students between the ages of 18 and 22 who immigrated to Germany together with their families when they were 12 to 16 years old participated in the study, when they were continuing their career in the German educational system. The intensive semi-structured interview was implemented to collect data in this qualitative research. The literal transcription of the interviews was followed by an analysis using the grounded theory method until data-saturation was reached. The results showed that the participants go through several similar and systematic social processes during their acculturation in the host country. The results obtained show a potential perspective for the design of strategies within integration programs and introductory courses for international students.
