The role of individual sustainability competencies and risk behaviour in sustainable supply chain management practices

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperAcademic

Abstract

This paper describes the role individual sustainability competencies can play in fostering sustainable supply chain management practices. Variables are measured by means of a cross sectional survey among supply chain decision makers in business-to-business context. Results show that individual sustainability competencies, such as systems thinking and anticipatory thinking, correlate positively and significantly with sustainable supply chain practices. Firm size does not play a significant role in our model. Our findings show that organizations should pay attention to the role of individual supply chain decision makers and in particular to their sustainability-related competencies, if they wish to implement meaningful sustainable supply chain practices.
