Abstract

This thesis explores the implementation of Agile Enterprise Architecture (AEA) within banking institutions, aiming to identify critical success factors (CSFs) that facilitate successful implementation. Through a combination of theoretical and empirical research, the study examines the roles of responsiveness, flexibility, speed, lean practices, and learning orientation in achieving effective AEA.
The findings indicate that these factors are essential for enabling banking institutions to adapt to both expected and unexpected changes efficiently. Responsiveness and flexibility ensure that the architecture can accommodate various changes without significant disruptions. Speed allows for swift implementation of changes, enhancing the institution’s ability to respond to market demands. Lean practices, although currently limited in implementation, contribute to smoother transition by reducing waste and cost without compromising quality. A strong learning orientation, focusing on continuous improvement and innovation, is necessary to sustain agility, adapt and evolve based on insights gained.
