Abstract
This study explores the differences in transparency with regards to the use of AI in 48 publicly traded and privately held organizations in Europe. AI Transparency is an increasingly important topic, due to the rapid growth of AI applications throughout life whilst regulations are not able to keep up. AI Transparency is an area that has seen little attention in the scientific field, causing for concern due to the many implications that AI brings. This study specifically aims to find out whether there is a relationship between both publicly and privately traded organizations, and the effort these organizations put into reporting about their use of AI. The approach taken in this research is of exploratory desk research. Publicly made documentation of each organization has been analyzed, scored and labeled to be able to score the organizations. This study found that the publicly traded organizations were significantly more
transparent about their use of AI. Next to that, the organizations in the energy and financial sectors scored significantly higher than those in the retail and construction sectors.
